Most people know about the carbon footprint of our activities like transportation , plastic production which is mainly based on fossil fuels , but one of the deeper carbon footprints are behind our digital consumption.
Which doesn’t only include the amount of energy used for sending and recieving the data that you used. But for a deeper understanding we need to look beyond it.The servers use electricity for storing and moving data.
Streaming music everytime proves to be a not so sustainable way of listening to music , when compared to downloaded music (offline).
The big companies like Google (Drive ,Gmail etc.) , Meta (Intagram , Facebook) & Similar companies offer free storage for their products which does seem lucrative to some but leads to a lot of wastage of bandwidth , data and storage and exploitation of resources in form of electricity , raw materials used to make new servers , storage devices , wires and everything involved which is extracted through heavy machinery from mines and forests , hurting the precious biodiversity of Earth.
